CUSTOMER NAME:

Dolly J.

PROBLEM:

Dolly called into Area Waterproofing needing assistance concerning a leak in her basement. She was doing some general cleanup in her basement, and noticed a leak in the right corner. She said it was dampness and water in the spot, that made her scratch her head in concern.  She cleaned up the water, but noticed after a heavy rain, the leak got worse, and more water infiltrated the area. Now, Dolly as she explained, was “nobody’s professional” in the basement industry. However, she knew she needed to enlist the services of a quality professional. She had lived in the home for about 10 years and stated her basement was unfinished. This hadn’t been an ongoing issue and she didn’t want it to become one.  Dolly scheduled a free consultation with an Area Waterproofing specialist to find a solution concerning her leaky basement.

SOLUTION:

Area Waterproofing sent a qualified project manager out for an assessment of Dolly’s basement. Given the details of homeowner’s call, he had a great internal scope, of how to proceed with the assessment. The project manager, went to the corner that was experiencing the dampness, and begin to draw his suggestion from the evidence he had found. After a thorough assessment, he suggested 94’ ft of waterproofing in the basement. Waterproofing the basement, seals off moisture and prevents leaks from reoccurring. This solution also increases the home’s value, readies the basement for possible finishing, and creates a usable space. After discussing these options, Dolly agreed to hire Area Waterproofing as her primary contractor for the project.  After a successful installation, she marveled at how thorough the crew had paid attention to detail. She was given satisfaction and peace of mind, by choosing Area Waterproofing, to solve her water issue in the basement.

Category: Mold

CUSTOMER NAME:

Mike and Sharon T.

PROBLEM:

Sharon called into Area Waterproofing, because she noticed some mold spots on her basement walls. She said they were on the west wall of the basement and it was really an eye sore.  She had done some research on the dangers of mold in a home and felt an urgency to solicit professional help. Sharon saw that mold causes upper respiratory allergies, asthma, and other illnesses. Her and Mike had two small children, and she definitely didn’t want their health impacted by the presence of mold. After talking with her husband, they scheduled a free consultation with Area Waterproofing to find a solution to their mold problem.

SOLUTION:

Area Waterproofing sent out a qualified project manager for an assessment of the moldy basement wall. It is important during these cases, to send out a professional, who can properly address the seriousness of mold. Based off the urgency and concern of Sharon, the project manager, performed a highly detailed assessment. After the assessment, he suggested a mold remediation. During a mold remediation, the first step would be to disinfect and kill the mold. This is done using a microbial barrier product designed for application on building surfaces. The barrier infiltrates the surface, resists moisture, mold and mildew growth. Using an epoxy wall coating would be the next step in the remediation process. This mold resisting coating provides a great looking finish for walls. It dries fast and can be applied in a timely manner. After discussing these benefits with Mike and Sharon, they agreed to move forward with Area Waterproofing. As the installation crew began servicing the basement, the homeowners were impressed by the crew’s urgency and gained peace of mind. Having small children and dealing with something as serious as mold, it can be frustrating trying to find the right solution. Thankfully, Sharon was able to call and get the help she needed from Area Waterproofing, to provide a safe and healthy environment for her family.

Category: Crawl Space, Encapsulation

CUSTOMER NAME:

Mark & Susan W.

PROBLEM:

Mark called into Area Waterproofing, because his wife (Susan) wanted to make a storage room out of their crawl space. When he went downstairs to investigate the area, he noticed some issues with the crawl space. He smelled musty odors, noticed some damp spots, saw a couple of insects making a home within the gravel, and some light areas of mold. Mark explained they hardly went downstairs to the crawl space area, because it wasn’t an area of use for them. That’s the main reason it surprised him to see so much going on at one time! They had the home built 5 years ago, but never finished the basement. He knew that if the area would see any improvements, they would have to enlist the services of a qualified professional. They scheduled a free consultation with Area Waterproofing to get on the road towards a solution.

SOLUTION:

Area Waterproofing sent a qualified project manager out for an assessment of the couple’s basement. It is important that every project is headed up by an experienced professional, who can properly address a customer’s issue, and provide a solution. During the assessment, all of the problems noted were located by the project manager. After a fully detailed assessment, he suggested a full crawl space encapsulation. The crawl space encapsulation method includes: sealing the area with a heavy duty vapor barrier. Not only does this protect the crawl space from the outside elements, but it improves air quality as well. Adding insulation and a dehumidifier also, would complete the encapsulation by making the area more energy efficient. After discussing these details with the homeowners, they agreed to move forward with the installation process. They were thoroughly impressed that every detail mentioned on the phone call was addressed. Then, Susan was able to start making plans for her storage room, knowing they had a healthy space.
